A huge congratulations to Deirdre McAdams, who was selected as the Overall Winner of the Postgraduate Teaching Award 2021. During her PhD, Deirdre has been teaching Biology on the Trinity Access Programmes’ Foundation Course for Higher Education and is passionate about student development and engagement.
Prof. Martine Smith, Dean of Graduate Studies, commended Deirdre for her “commitment to fostering student learning, awareness of her own professional development and her focus on empathy and engagement with a wide range of students.” Deirdre expressed her passion for teaching through a three part process involving a written application, a short video speaking to her teaching practices, and a formal interview. Many strong applications were received from across every discipline in College. Prof. Smith remarked, “to be a winner from such a strong field of candidates is truly impressive, so congratulations.” Well done, Deirdre!
