Esther Surender successfully defends her PhD Thesis!

Esther Surender, who joined the group in 2011 following her MSci degree in Chemistry from Queen’s University Belfast, defended her PhD Thesis (‘Lanthanide Cyclen-Based Gold Nanoparticles and Micellar Systems as Luminescent and Magnetic Contrast Agents for Diagnostic Imaging’) today.

The four year research project was conducted in collaboration with Prof Clive Lee at RCSI and Prof Dermot Brougham at UCD. Examiners, including Trinity’s Prof. Eoin Scanlan, Prof. David Parker from the University of Durham and Viva Chair Prof. Joanna McGouran joined the research group for a reception in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute afterwards to celebrate.
