Dr Chris Hawes joins TG Group (IRC Fellow)

Dr Chris Hawes has joined the TG Group. Chris completed his PhD at the University of Canterbury in 2012 under the supervision of Professor Paul Kruger in the field of metallo-supramolecular chemistry with a focus on the synthesis of new heterocyclic ligand systems. Following his PhD work, he worked under the supervision of Dr David Turner and Professor Stuart Batten at Monash University on a Science and Industry Endowment Fund (SIEF) supported project investigating porous crystalline materials for industrial CO2 capture applications. His research interests are in the fields of porous materials, coordination chemistry, crystallography and crystal engineering with a focus towards anion sensing applications in metallosupramolecular systems. He will begin an Irish Research Council Fellowship in the near future.
