Trinity College Hurling Club win Ryan Cup 2015 !!

Eoin McCarney, 2nd year PhD in the Gunnlaugsson group, took time out of his busy research schedule to represent TCD Hurling in Ryan Cup Weekend hosted by LIT in Limerick on 27/28th February 2015.

Having finished top of their group, TCD Hurling were pitted against runners-up St. Patrick’s College, Thurles in the Ryan Cup semi-final on 27th Feb in Rathkeale Centre of Excellence, Co. Limerick. Last year’s finalists came away with a convincing 5 point victory, 1-14 to 2-6, over the Tipperary side setting up the Final against Queen’s University Belfast who narrowly defeated IT Tralee by one point, 2-10 to 2-9, in the other day’s semi-final. Trinity went on to win the final 1-18 to 1-9 the next day bringing the Ryan Cup home! The team members will be honoured at a Trinity Commons Awards Ceremony by DUCAC on 1st April to mark this historic achievement.

Asked how he felt on return to work following the weekend’s celebrations Eoin McCarney said, “Hon the lads!”… Well said!
