Post-doc Dr. Miguel Martinez-Calvo and Phd Student Sam Bradberry attend the 3rd scientific meeting of COST Action CM1005 – Supramolecular Chemistry in Water which convened in Valetta, Malta in 2013 by the scientific committee with local organiser Dr. David Magri.
Miguel presented new group research as a communication “Formation of Luminescent Supramolecular Eu(III) and Tb(III) Gels by Lanthanide directed Self-Assembly” detailing results of project in soft matter generation in coordination compounds of Eu(III) and Tb(III) that are highly luminescent and interesting in morphology and self-healing properties.
Sam presented a poster “Naphthyl-sensitized Ln(III) Emissive Complexes and Solution Self-Assembly Behaviour in Aqueous Media” detailing new research results of the “Trinity Sliotar” family of ligands developed in the group and progress towards aqueous solubility and greater increasing the available solvent systems and viable applications for the systems.
COST Actions are EU supported Collaboration in Science and Technology initiatives that foster international collaboration within Europe between groups working on similar goals of supramolecular chemistry in aqueous systems. The Action and network include groups a vast array of major European countries including France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, UK , Belgium and Turkey.
